The film follows a Tunisian family living in poverty in an old, damp and moldy house, where the mother Souad suffers from financial hardship and a troubled mental state. The humidity of the house causes the youngest son Youssef to develop a severe pneumonia.\n\nThe family's primary preoccupation becomes escaping this house and building a new life. To achieve this, the mother pushes her children to drop out of school and work to support the family. The eldest daughter Amal finds herself working in the house of a wealthy family where she faces harassment and a shocking situation, which drives her to attempt suicide.\n\nThe family realizes the magnitude of the disaster, and the mother admits her fault and seeks help from a psychologist to help Amal recover and return to her studies and her normal life. At the same time, the parents are forced to send Youssef to live with a childless wealthy family who promise to provide a better life and education for him.\n\nBut tragedy strikes when the family hears on the radio a report from the Ministry of Interior warning of a gang that abducts children under the guise of aid and adoption, revealing that Youssef has fallen victim to this gang.\n\nAfter ten years, the trauma's effects become evident on the family members. Youssef and his sister Amal appear in therapy sessions, where the doctor tries to help Youssef overcome the trauma of the past. Youssef learns that pain is a part of life but not its end, and that the strength lies within him to overcome the mistake and move forward in life.
