The neighbors

It is the portrait of two old women, each reduced to living on her own in the solitude of two old houses. Malika (82 years old) lives in a dilapidated eighteenth-century building. After the departure of her seven children, she finds herself alone. Zakia (72 years old) had never married. She now lives alone in an old Arab house that had housed several families for two centuries, when everyone, sisters and brothers, cousins, had preferred to live elsewhere and free themselves from the promiscuity of the home of their forefathers, incompatible with the values of modern life. Malika and Zakia are neighbors. The night brings them together. The two neighbors offer each other a chat after a day spent in endless household chores without any real domestic use, if not to kill time and ward off the torments of boredom.
