Youcef Bentis is a screenwriter and film director, winner of the Algerian President's Prize, Ali Maachi, for cinema in 2021. He holds several academic degrees in directing and screenwriting, the most recent being a semester at Vancouver Film School. He also participated in a three-month workshop in Amman, Jordan, as part of the Arab filmmakers' summer camp. Youssef has five films to his credit, the latest being "The African Dream" (the official film of the closing ceremony of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations), which was broadcast on international television. He also co-directed the television broadcast of this ceremony with the Spanish company Mediapro. Additionally, Youssef directed several commercials for major Algerian companies. His film "The Djam Tour", released at the end of 2023, is considered his first feature-length creative documentary. In terms of awards and honors, the director has won several national and international prizes and has participated in major film festivals such as the Alexandria International Film Festival, the Medenine International Short Film Festival in Tunisia, the Ibn Ghrir International Film Festival in Morocco, the Constantine Short Film Festival, the Oran International Arab Film Festival, and the Kenya International Film Festival. Youssef's works are characterized by imagination, mystery, fantasy, and motivational drama, and he is currently working on his first television series titled "The Reaper".
