Tunisian director, screenwriter and playwright. Born April 4, 1971 in Tunis. After a master's degree in Literature and French Civilization at the University of Tunis, Raja Amari attended classes at the FEMIS (European Foundation for Image and Sound) in scenario department, in Paris. After graduating from FEMIS, she directed two short films "Avril" and "Un soir de juillet", which won numerous prizes and a documentary "On the trail of forgetfulness" about Isabelle Eberhardt. She made her first feature film, Red Satin (Official Selection Berlin Festival 2002), which won, among other awards, the "Best New Director Award" at the Seattle International Film Festival and the "Best Film" prize at the Torino International Film Festival. . "Dowaha - The Secrets" (Official Selection Venice Film Festival 2009, Best Motion Picture at the 2010 Milan Film Festival and Critics' Prize at the Tübingen Film Festival 2010 in Germany) is his second feature film.
